Alyssia Wright
Executive Director of School NutritionAlyssia L. Wright boasts an illustrious 25-year career in child nutrition, currently serving as the Executive Director of School Nutrition for Fulton County Schools (FCS) in Metro Atlanta, Georgia. Leading a team overseeing 97 kitchens and 700 employees, Alyssia expertly manages a $52 million budget, orchestrating the daily provision of 76,000 meals with a passion for delivering wholesome nutrition to students.
Her influence extends beyond FCS, actively sharing best practices through various mediums, including conference presentations, radio, podcast interviews, television news segments, and print and digital media. Alyssia is an integral member of the Georgia School Nutrition Association’s Executive Board, holding key roles such as Chair of the GSNA Foundation Committee, Chair of the Nominating Committee, and immediate Past President. Nationally, she has served as Chair of the Program Planning and Development for the School Nutrition Association (SNA) and contributed to SNA’s L.E.A.D. Grant Advisory Group and Child Nutrition Reauthorization (CNR) Task Force.
Alyssia's impact on the K-12 industry is further emphasized by her past representation on the Governor’s K-12 Restart Working Group and the Georgia Department of Education’s School Nutrition Program Director’s Advisory Council. Her commitment to student well-being extends to representing FCS on the Action for Healthy Kids’ Urban School Wellness Coalition and contributing to the FCS Emergency Task Force.
Recognized for her outstanding contributions, Alyssia holds the title of Vice Chair of the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) K-12 Foodservice Council and proudly received the 2022 Foodservice Operator of the Year for Elementary and Secondary Schools, awarded the Silver Plate by IFMA. Additional accolades include the SNA President’s Award of Service (2023), SNA’s State Award of Excellence – GSNA (2023), Product Design Champion – New Age Industrial (2022), Nexus Award – Platinum Elite Status – Georgia Department of Education (2019), and the Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence (FAME) Silver Leadership Award (2019).
Alyssia, a native of Atlanta, holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Georgia Southern University, with a minor in Business Management. She furthered her education, earning a Masters in Education and a Specialist in Education, and is certified under the requirements of the School Nutrition Association (SNA). Beyond her professional accomplishments, Alyssia is a devoted wife and mother of two children, Braelyn (12) and Branson II (9), accompanied by their two furry companions, Bosco and Bella.
